Welcome to the Golden Gate Swiss Club web site.
Founded in 1969 by a group of Swiss immigrants to the San Francisco bay area, our social club is dedicated to celebrating the Swiss culture, traditions and heritage.
Club volunteers organize and promote several family (and dog) friendly in/outdoor events a year across the San Francisco Bay Area. These typically include:
- Traditional Fondue (February)
- Spring Hike with grilled Bratwurst (April/May)
- Annual 1. August celebrations (July/August)
- unique outdoor Raclette (September/October)
- other seasonal events, incl. kids camp, etc.
Our membership spans from young to old, from singles to families and their children. The Swiss events are a great opportunity to meet other Swiss in the Bay Area, speak one of the native languages, learn about Switzerland - or simply have a good time and enjoy a traditional meal.
Who qualifies for membership? We have a few (reasonable) requirements to join the Golden Gate Swiss Club:
- Affection for Swiss Culture,
- Birth in Switzerland, or
- Cultural ties to a Swiss descent
As a result, we have a very diverse and international club membership. To learn more about membership, please visit our membership section. We keep our annual membership dues very affordable, and our events are open to non-members (so you can bring your friends too :-).
We hope to meet you at one of our next events. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact one of our board members by using the contacts form.
Thank you for your visit and interest.
Sincerely,
Stephan Steiner, President
and the GGSC Board of Directors
